LOS ANGELES (KABC) – A new study by researchers at the USC brings new hope to people with Alzheimer's disease.

The study shows that compounds found in green tea and carrots reversed the Alzheimer-like symptoms in mice.

The mice had the memory and visual and spatial skills restored and could just as easily get out of a labyrinth as healthy mice.

Scientists believe that these compounds help prevent proteins from forming clumps in the brain and causing cognitive decline.

The team pointed out that the discovery in mice could not be replicated in humans, but that this could lead to the use of herbal supplements to slow dementia symptoms.
