WEST PALM BEACH, Florida – A manager at a West Palm Beach restaurant has tested positive for the hepatitis A virus, health officials confirmed.
According to the Florida Department of Health, a food service employee at Off Tha Bone BBQ, located at 1516 N. Tamarind Avenue, was infected with the contagious virus.
The employee may have clients exposed on May 14th only. If you ate at the restaurant on May 14, watch for the onset of these symptoms of hepatitis A:
- Abdominal pain
- Dark urine
- Fever
- Diarrhea
- Pale white stool
- Skin and yellow eyes (jaundice)
Anyone with these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.
The owner of Off Tha Bone BBQ stated that the infected worker only worked at the restaurant for one day. He returned home sick the same day and was eventually fired, said the owner.

Last month, a
dishwasher at Butcher Shop Beer Garden & Grill,
located at 209 6th Street in West Palm Beach, also tested positive for hepatitis A.
The doctors said the best way to protect against hepatitis A was to get vaccinated and wash their hands after using the toilet and before handling food. The vaccine against hepatitis A is available in doctors' offices, emergency care centers, pharmacies and county health departments.
Health officials said the incubation time for hepatitis A was 15 to 50 days. This means that you will begin to see symptoms between 15 and 50 days after your exposure to the virus.
