Wild footage shows the moment when a man was hailed as a hero who shot dead an armed suspect after two gunmen stormed into a Las Vegas jewelry store.

The shooting took place in December at John Fish Jewelers, but the owners refused to broadcast the video surveillance of the incident until this week after learning that the police had arrested the second suspect.

In the video, two armed robbers dressed in black and wearing masks burst into the store just before the closing time.

One of the suspects is taking the store owner, John Fish, into a safe, while the other suspects Fish's brother, Steven, and an unidentified customer on the ground before handcuffing them.

"He had me face down in the trunk with a gun to his head," Fish told NBC Las Vegas. "I thought it was my last moment."

Fish's wife, who was also in the store, sees the robbery unfold and seeks help from Pedro Torres, the concealed owner of a handgun, depending on the point of sale.

The video shows Torres coming to the store where Steven and the customer, the second suspect, are arrested under the threat of a gun. When the alleged shooter spots Torres, the man starts shooting. Torres immediately returns the fire and the ducks on the ground as bullets pass near him.

According to NBC Las Vegas, more than two dozen shots were fired and the smoke from the gunfire invaded the front of the store.

Torres was shot three times, but survived.

The suspect who was holding Steven and the client detained under the threat of a gun was shot during the exchange and died at the store. The other suspect has escaped, but has recently been arrested.

The identity of the two alleged thieves was unclear and the metropolitan police service in Las Vegas has not yet sent NBC News' request for comment.

"I think God is very, very tall," Torres said. "Saved my life."
