A 24-year-old Norwegian family died of rabies this week after being bitten by a puppy she saved while she was on holiday in the Philippines, her family said.
In February, while on holiday with friends, Birgitte Kallestad found a "helpless" puppy on the side of the road on a scooter ride.
"Birgitte put the puppy in a basket and brought it home, cleaned it and took care of it.To her joy, she started to heal. the puppy in the garden "of the residence where they were staying, said the family in a statement issued Thursday night.
"After a while, the puppy started trying to bite them like the puppies, and he bit their fingers when they played," the statement said.
