MEMPHIS, Tennessee – A 29-year-old woman was charged after police reported stabbing another woman's head over a place in a queue for McDonald's, but his family had claimed to have done so in self-defense.

And there is a video to support their claim.

Authorities said the incident occurred Monday at the restaurant located at 905 Union Avenue.

The video on cell phone shows the moments leading up to the knife attack that sent the victim Jasmine Burress to the hospital.

Burress told the police that it all started as a fight between the two women that quickly escalated. It was then that the suspect, Asalene Branch, pulled out a knife and stabbed Burress in the head. The injury was not critical, the authorities said.

"If five people jump on you, what would you do?" Kim Branch, the suspect's mother.

The video shows Branch and another woman, perhaps Burress, entering the movie. Branch stands by her parked car and in the video she is not the first to get treatment.

The affidavit states that the fight started in the direct service queue, and Burress and Branch set them up, but in the video, it is clear that the two ladies are far from the line of access. flying when the situation gets worse.

"She does not bother anyone," Kim Branch says. "That's not the case – she's a good kid, she was going to get coffee for her, and they started with her."

The video shows more than one person attacking Branch, and even a man is participating in the action. The stabbing was not filmed, but the mother stated that her daughter had been beaten before pulling a knife.

"She defended herself," Kim Branch said. "I hope she'll be fine."

To get both sides of the story, WREG went to an address on Burress' list, which suffered minor injuries, but no one opened the door.

The investigators stated that the people there were able to obtain information about the suspect's vehicle, which led them to the branch. When she was questioned by the police, she allegedly stabbed Burress with a knife.

She remains charged with aggravated assault.

Branch's family said they shared the video that had briefly surfaced on Facebook in the hope of erasing Branch's name.
