Kentucky Trader Reid Travis should miss 2 weeks with a knee sprain

Kentucky announced Wednesday that forward Reid Travis would miss at least two weeks after spraining his right knee during Tuesday's 66-58 win in Missouri, which means he'll miss the next clash between SEC and Tennessee.

Coach John Calipari expressed relief in a statement that the injury "was more of a sprain than anything else, because you worry about this stuff when you see someone falling."

"We are going to be very conservative with that, so he might be missing a few weeks," said Calipari. "We hope he'll be ready for the conference tournament or maybe even a little bit earlier, but I'm happy for Reid to get it back."

Travis, a Stanford graduate, was scheduled to take an MRI exam on Wednesday, but the Wildcats of Columbia, Missouri, were delayed by bad weather.

Travis was injured when teammate Keldon Johnson fell between his legs in the middle of the second half of the No. 4 Wildcats victory. Travis, who averaged 11.6 points and 7.1 rebounds, left the match and did not come back.

The Wildcats (22-4, 11-2 SEC) host unrated Auburn Saturday and Arkansas unrated Tuesday.

On March 2, Kentucky will be on the road for the crucial game against No. 5 Tennessee. Travis played a key role in Kentucky's anger over the first volunteers at the team's first meeting in Lexington last week.
