A 23-year-old British girl who thought she was pregnant was shocked to learn that she was carrying a cancerous mass instead, reports the Mirror.
Two years ago, Grace Baker-Padden, of Willington, Durham County, and her partner, Joe Cowling, 28, were surprised to find that she appeared to be pregnant because she was pregnant. she was taking contraceptive pills. After four pregnancy tests, Baker-Padden visited a doctor, who allegedly confirmed it.
"We decided to continue the pregnancy," said the 23-year-old girl, at the announcement of this news. "We were so happy and excited, our parents could not wait to be our grandparents for the first time."
Soon, Baker-Padden would have started throwing up every day, which she initially described as morning sickness. She also had a "very slight" swelling of the belly, which she attributed to her pregnancy.

However, around the eighth and tenth weeks of her pregnancy, Baker-Padden claimed to have noticed blood and immediately went to the doctor, fearing to be on the verge of miscarriage. In February 2018, the woman received a scanner that, in Cowling's view, was disabled.
"There was no baby shape – it looked like a bunch of grapes," Cowling told the Mirror. "The midwife said it sounded like a" molar pregnancy "and went to get a doctor."
The couple performed a quick search for gestational trophoblastic disease, characterized by abnormal growth of cells that normally develop in the placenta and "started to panic," Cowling said. A doctor later confirmed that Baker-Padden was actually suffering from a rare complication that only concerned one of the 590 pregnancies in the UK.
"We were not expecting a baby, but rather the word C," recalls Baker-Padden. "We were both very angry."
Although most molar pregnancies are benign, the 23-year-old girl's mass was found to be malignant. The doctors eventually withdrew it two days later, according to the Mirror.
Baker-Padden then spent the next six months taking a chemotherapy drug to control his hormone levels, which had increased as a result of the disease, before undergoing other chemotherapy treatments at the same time. last fall.
"It made me weak and exhausted," she said of the treatment. "My hair has thinned, although fortunately I have never lost it."
Two days after Christmas, Baker-Padden was finally bleached by her doctors, but she continued to receive precautionary treatment until January.
"The relief was incredible," she said. "We just wanted to go back to normal and planned a holiday to celebrate."
Although Baker-Padden and Cowling are still planning to have a baby in the near future, he would have been told to wait a year for his hormones to stabilize. The doctors also warned her that there was a 15% chance that she would undergo a molar pregnancy again.
"Everything has been very difficult, but we are so relieved that Grace is doing well," said Cowling.
