Aaron Jones lost his pendant to his father’s ashes after one of his touchs

Throughout his career, Packers backer Aaron Jones would usually meet his father in the stands at Lambeau Field after coming out of the locker room in home games, but things were different on Monday night.

Alvin Jones Jr. died in April of complications from COVID-19 and his son took the field against the Lions wearing a necklace with a pendant filled with his father’s ashes. Jones then had a memorable evening.

Jones caught three touchdowns and ran for another in the Packers’ 35-17 victory, but the pendant did not survive the night’s end. Jones believes it happened on his second touchdown and no one was able to find him as he spoke to the media after the game. Jones thinks his father would have appreciated being in the end zone.

“If there was one place to lose him, this is where my dad wanted me to lose him,” Jones said, via the team’s website. “So I know he’s smiling.”

Jones believes his father would also have appreciated the way the Packers rebounded from their 38-3 loss in Week 1, as he taught his son “how to react is what makes a man.” Thanks in large part to Jones, the Packers found the right answer on Monday night.
