It seems to work, but the same can not be said of Toronto's defensive concept. Judges Blue Jays used third baseman Eric Sogard to play in a real field position, although the fact that Pannone's offer landed in the players' parking lot mattered little.

Toronto also tried the outdoor quartet later in the first inning with Greg Bird. He made his debut last week when Charlie Montoyo, the manager of the Blue Jays, deployed it against Bryce Harper of the Phillies.

Judge, winner of the 2017 American League Rookie of the Year Award and finalist of the season in the ALF Most Valuable Player Award, defeated .278 / .392 / .528 with 27 innings and 67 points produced in 112 games last season.
