Abigail Breslin announced on Friday that her father had died of COVID-19, just two weeks after urging fans to wear masks.

Breslin, who is 24, shared a series of return photos of his father with a lengthy statement in which she remembered him as “perfect, amazing, heroic” and shared touching anecdotes about his life.

“Oh wow. Hard to write that. Harder than I thought. I’m in shock and devastation,” Breslin’s statement begins.

“At 6:32 pm EST, my perfect, amazing, heroic and wonderful adorable dad passed away after my family and I said goodbye. It was COVID-19 that took my sweet daddy’s life too short. I appreciate more than you might think, the love and support that my family and I have received. I especially want to remember my father for who he was, ”the“ Zombieland ”actress said.

She went on to describe her father as a “hilarious, loud, tenacious, rebellious, intelligent, gentle and amazing human being” who “loved life”.

Breslin’s news of his father’s death comes just two weeks after he revealed on Instagram that he had been diagnosed with the deadly virus.

“Hi guys. Unfortunately this is not one that I never thought I should make. I ask for prayers and positivity sent this way for my dad, Michael who tested positive for COVID-19 and this morning had to be placed on a ventilator, ”Breslin wrote.“ We continue to stay positive and know he’s very groomed. In another post, she explained the importance of wearing face masks.
