A new study has shown that drinking up to 25 cups of coffee a day has no detrimental effect on your arteries.

This recently published study indicates that drinking 25 cups a day is not worse for your arteries than drinking a cup a day.

The research was funded by the British Heart Foundation.

However, Australian scientists found that people who drank at least six cups of coffee a day were 22% more likely to develop heart disease than those who drank only one or two a day .

Professor Metin Avkiran, deputy medical director of the British Heart Foundation, said the debate on the impact of coffee on your health has been preparing for some time now.

"There are several conflicting studies saying different things about coffee, and it can be difficult to filter what we should believe and what we should not," he said. "We hope this research will put some of the media stories in perspective because it eliminates one of the potential adverse effects of coffee on our arteries."
