The NASA administrator predicts that the next person to visit the moon – and the first person who will visit Mars – will be a woman.
Addressing the weekly weekly radio show "Science Friday," Jim Bridenstine said that a woman would "absolutely" humanity's first step on the "red planet."

"The answer is totally, in fact, it will probably be a woman, the first person on the moon," said Bridenstine. "It is also true that the first person on Mars will probably be a woman."
The administrator said "NASA is committed to ensuring we have a wide range of talent," and added, "We are looking forward to the first woman on the moon".
The US agency will perform later this month its very first release in the all-female space on the International Space Station (ISS).

Anne McClaine and fellow astronaut Christina Koch will participate in the Expedition 59 on March 29, which is expected to last seven hours. Canadian Space Agency flight controller Kristen Facciol will assist McClain and Koch on the console at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston.
The exit into the space will be the second of three planned outings during the expedition to upgrade the ISS batteries, which, according to NASA, would have been delivered on the Japanese transfer vehicle HII last summer.
