Actor-comedian Sammy Shore, Pauly's father, 92 years old

Sammy Shore, actor and humorist co-founder of the Comedy Store, died Saturday. He was 92 years old.

Through the intermediary of a spokesperson, Shore's family said that he had died in his home in Las Vegas, surrounded by his family. He was the father of actor-comedian Pauly Shore.

Shore's career, which lasted nearly seven years, ranged from Borscht Belt seaside resorts in the Catskill Mountains in New York to Hollywood Studios.

Shore began his career by standing with Shecky Greene. Elvis Presley chose Shore as part of his tour, and the actor opened for many other artists, including Tony Orlando, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., Tom Jones, Ann-Margret, Connie Stevens, Bobby Darin and Glen Campbell.

In 1972, Shore, his first wife Mitzi and his writing partner Rudy Deluca founded Los Angeles' famous comedy club, the Comedy Store. Pauly Shore, with whom he has toured for the last 20 years, paid tribute on Saturday to his father on Twitter.

"Dad, you lived an incredible life and I'm so proud to say that you're my father," he wrote. "When you are in heaven, I will kill the crowds night after night and I will perpetuate your inheritance, I love you daddy, rest in peace."

The former Shore has also appeared in numerous films, including "The Bellboy" with Jerry Lewis and "Life Stinks" by Mel Brooks and "History of the World Part 1". He has also appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and has been invited to TV series by Tony Orlando and Pointer Sisters, as well as Redd Foxx's Sanford and Son.

Shore was also an author and recorded several albums. He also leaves his wife Suzanne, 29 years old.
