RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif .– Other appointments will open for Free COVID-19 vaccination clinics after Riverside County received additional doses this week, but available slots are scarce, it was announced Wednesday.
Appointment scheduling (required) begins at noon on Thursday, January 21 for the next six county-run clinics at Diamond Stadium in Lake Elsinore, as well as the Perris and Indio County Fairs. Only people 65 years of age and older and people who work in high-risk settings (all levels in phase 1A and level 1 in phase 1B) are eligible to receive the vaccine.
The appointment began after Riverside County announced it had received 26,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine this week. Of that allocation, however, only 3,900 doses will be used in county-run vaccination clinics. The remaining doses are intended for community partners, depending on the county. “The supply of vaccines continues to be limited and demand for vaccines high,” the county said in a press release.
Since the vaccine distribution announced last month, the county has received a total of 157,775 doses as of early Wednesday afternoon, according to data from the Riverside University Health System.
The next clinics are scheduled for January 22 and 23 at Diamond Stadium, 500 Diamond Drive, Lake Elsinore, CA, 92530. The January 22 clinic is for people aged 65 and over (appointment still required).
Clinics are scheduled for January 24 and 25 at Perris Exhibition Center, 18700 Lake Perris Drive, Perris, CA, 92571. The January 25 clinic is reserved for people 65 years of age and over (appointment always required).
Clinics are also scheduled for January 23-24 at the Indio Fairgrounds in the Fullenwider Auditorium, 46350 Arabia Street, Indio, CA, 92201.
The six clinics will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“This is important news for so many of our residents who are anxious to get their immunizations,” said Board Chair Karen Spiegel, Second District Supervisor. “We also ask for your patience. We continue to have very limited vaccine quantities and high demand within the community. The county distributes vaccines as soon as we receive them.”
Those who want to get vaccinated can visit Riverside University’s Health System-Public Health vaccine website www.ruhealth.org/covid-19-vaccine starting at noon Thursday for an appointment. People over 65 who need help registering can call 2-1-1.
Clinics will provide vaccines free of charge, however, those who show up must register prior to arrival, have an appointment, and present proof of eligibility (work badge, business ID, or letter of proof from the clinic. ’employer). Information on medical insurance will be requested, but not mandatory.
People 65 and over must have proof of age, such as a driver’s license. Seniors who need help registering can call 2-1-1.
