Adele just announced her next single

Prepare your tear ducts – the new Adele is coming. Today the singer announced the title and release date of her first single in six years, simply Tweeter, “Easy for me – October 15.” Take it slow me, Adele. I need some time to hydrate.

The tweet is accompanied by a 21-second wordless video, which you may think is not enough to base any predictions on. To which I say: “Look at me”. The clip is monochrome, very much in the style of the clips for “Someone Like You” and “Hello”. You hear a soft, slow piano, just like in his previous ballads, and oh, my God, I’m already in great shape. Finally, there’s Adele herself, looking in the rearview mirror, decked out in her signature winged eyeliner. She drives a car full of stuff, scores fly up the road. Where are you going, Adele? Can I come too ?? She even does the waving hand movement out of the window, something we all know means, “Shh, I’m thinking and / or pretending I’m in my own movie right now.”

A lot has happened since Adèle’s last album, 25, which was released in 2015. She divorced. She started dating Lebron James’ agent. There was quite a pandemic. There were many calls for Adele to drop the album for goodness sake. Needless to say, grief is just ripe for the picking.

And Adele has been hinting at new music for quite some time now. In 2019, she gave us a little Instagram pic in honor of her 31st birthday, concluding her post with a premonitory, “Bunch of fucking savages, 30 will be a drum n bass record to piss you off.” Over the past two weeks, billboards and projections of the number 30 have popped up all over the world, including outside the Louvre in Paris, on the Colosseum in Rome, and near the top of the Empire State Building in New York. Next, Adele edited her photos on social media to match the billboards (without a “30”).

Sadly, we still don’t have a release date or confirmation that his next album will be called “30” – let’s face it, that’s definitely what it will be called. In the meantime, we’ll just have to watch this 21-second clip on a loop.
