Advantage One Credit Union hosted a summer food drive to benefit downline veterans.
Donation boxes were placed in branch halls, as well as at the contact center and head office, and a food drive took place during the months of June and July. An employee contest was also created, challenging different locations to see who could collect the most items. The campaign was a huge success, racking up nearly 2,500 non-perishable food items to donate to Downriver for veterans.
Community Outreach members Chelsea Fell, Lindsay Dennis, Amber Hayes and Charlie Nusser delivered two vans worth food to Downriver for veterans.
DFV Founder Ann Rudisill and Board Member Monika Anthony were on hand to explain to the team how the food program at DFV works and how not only local veterans have the opportunity to come once a month to food pickup, but they also provide deliveries to vets who cannot make it to the warehouse.
“Today has been a rewarding experience,” said Lindsay Dennis of Advantage One. “Seeing the heart that these people bring to the service of local veterinarians in our community makes you want to get involved and participate. The work Ann and her team do is amazing and I am so happy that Advantage One can be a part of it. We will certainly continue to support this wonderful organization.
