All members of S. Rahul's family, based in New Delhi, are concerned about their health. That's why olive oil bottles, often considered a healthier option compared to other cooking oils, have been sent to their kitchen. Three years ago, this family opted for "clarified butter", again apparently for its health benefits.
They are not alone, however. Today, more and more "modern" families in India are adopting the so-called "old-fashioned" habit of cooking with desheghé. In addition, even doctors and nutritionists agree that, consumed in limited quantities, it can strengthen your bones and boost your immunity.
"Desi ghee is considered one of the best stimulants of immunity in Indian society. It is beneficial for our eyesight, our digestive system and even strengthens our bones. Desi ghee also promotes healthy skin and hair, "said Priyanka Rohtagi, chief clinical nutritionist at Apollo Hospitals in Indraprastha. IANS.
"It's an excellent antibiotic that helps fight colds and coughs. It is also used on wounds to speed healing. During pregnancy, desi ghee provides food for the mother and the child, who need more nutrients, "she said.
Rahul, however, made the decision to change medication without following the recommendations of a doctor or nutritionist. He said some YouTube videos explaining the benefits of design influenced his decision.
"We've relied on olive oil before, but we went on a desi ghee because it does not burn your pocket and that it's also good for you because of its anti-aging properties. -inflammatory. It also relieved my psoriasis symptoms, "said Rahul.
"After trying the desi-ghee, we found that it helped us reduce weight while my parents also stopped complaining of joint pain," he added.
Desi ghei is made by gently warming cow's milk butter. The process ends once the water is evaporated and the fat is separated from the milk solids.
"Ghee contains mostly saturated fatty acids and is rich in vitamins A, E and K2. It is also rich in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and butyrate, both of which have powerful health benefits, "said B.L. Agarwal, Associate Director, Cardiology, Jaypee Hospital, Noida. IANS.
"A normal adult can consume 1 to 2 tablespoons of ghee a day. Apart from that, this amount can be slightly modified depending on the amount of work that one does, "said Agarwal.
However, desi ghee should be consumed wisely because obesity results and people with heart disease, kidney disease or cholesterol should avoid or limit their consumption, said Rohtagi.
"Those with vitamin A, D, E and K deficiency should take their moderation dose. Consuming regularly is great for joint health and can be used as a lubricant, "said Shalini Bliss, head nutritionist and dietician at Columbia Asia Hospital in Gurugram.
"It is also useful in the treatment of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis," she added.
However, consumers should keep in mind that desi ghee contains saturated fats and that an overdose can for a long time increase cholesterol levels, which is not good for the body, have said experts.
