LONDON – CBS Television Studios and Kelsey Grammer would explore the opportunity to bring back Frasier .
CBS Television Studios are currently in the very early stages of restarting the popular sitcom – which ran for 11 seasons from 1993 to 2004 on NBC – with its original Grammer star, though the project is not yet officially in development.
According to Deadline the 63-year-old actor – who played psychiatrist Frasier Crane in the show – is currently meeting writers, who present different concepts for potential follow-up.
But It Is Believed That The Program Would Be A Restart, Probably Put In A New Town
Frasier was introduced as a character in the Boston-set Cheers before moving to his hometown of Seattle to start a new life as a radio presenter at Frasier
The finale of the show – which was watched by nearly 34 million viewers during its broadcast in May 2004 – saw the main character leave for Chicago with his girlfriend Charlotte (Laura Linney), rather than take an offer of employment in San Francisco.
In 11 seasons, Frasier won a record 37 Primetime Emmy awards, including five consecutive wins for Outstanding Comedy Series and four Grammer Actor awards.
If the restart continues, it seems that Grammer has changed heart as he previously insisted, he would like to keep both Frasier and Cheers in the past.
Asked in December 2016 when he would be open to the idea of one or the other When returning, he said: "No, I am very happy with what I do now, I look at the past as a very loving place and I would like to keep it that way. "
