Steam has just announced the most sold and most played games from 2018 to date, covering the first six months of the calendar year. And the standout winners for us where 2018 releases Jurbadic World Evolution and Warhammer: Vermintide 2. Both that reach the highest level of platinum.
Jurbadic World Evolution was released only on June 12, which represents a huge change in a few weeks, and Frontier must be very satisfied with it. While Vermintide 2 builds a large fan base since its official launch in March.
This puts these games alongside permanent earnings such as Dota 2, GTA V, PUBG, Rocket League, Counter-Strike and Rainbow Six Siege. Far Cry 5 was obviously up there, with the game already considered the biggest winner of the year so far by the recent US NPD figures.
Steam information is a little obscure here (of course) without any definition of what a Platinum rank refers to, with ranks of Gold, Silver and Bronze lower. The complete list is here.
Other platinum inclusions were RPG Kingdom Come Deliverance and Civilization VI. Although Warframe is worthy of mention, with its recent development of The Sacrifice having led player numbers to levels never seen before.
Its most played segment is a little clearer with games clbadified by simultaneous users. Here, Warframe has joined GTA V, Counter-Strike, PUBG, Dota 2 and Rainbow Six with more than 100,000 simultaneous players. You can see the complete list here.
