Tourism Ireland welcomes royal visit
Tourism Ireland has said it is this week's visit, saying it is "more likely to travel to Ireland in the future".
A statement read: "During their time here, the royal couple will enjoy our wonderful culture and hospitality – with visits to Croke Park, Trinity College and the Book of Kells, as well as EPIC the Irish Emigration Museum.
"A large media contingent has traveled, bringing the story to millions of people in Britain and elsewhere around the world.
"Tourism Ireland aims to inspire people to come and go with the stars, with inviting messages, which is welcome and fun for which Ireland is renowned.
"The organization's promotional activity to leverage
- a 'Welcome to Dublin' event for international journalists in Dublin to cover the royal visit;
- distribution of film footage and images of Dublin and Ireland to influential British travel, lifestyle and news journalists;
- email marketing to British media with ideas and suggestions for a great short break in Dublin;
- Extensive social media activity – on Facebook and Twitter – sharing images of some of the top attractions and joining in the positive online conversations about Dublin and Ireland "
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said:" This week's visit by the Duke and Duchess of Susbad is a great opportunity to showcase Dublin and Ireland to a huge audience of prospective holidaymakers across Britain and has the potential to deliver a major boost to Irish tourism.
"A large media contingent has traveled, bringing the story to millions of people in Britain, and elsewhere around the world, and providing a truly unique opportunity to highlight Ireland as a wonderful holiday destination.
"[Great Britain is an important market for tourism to the island of Ireland.]
" It delivers 47% of all overseas visitors and around 28% of all overseas tourism revenue.
