Check out all the big changes that will come to World of Warcraft in tomorrow's patch

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth is still in a month, but patch 8.0 arrives tomorrow around 15:00 PDT (when scheduled server maintenance ends). This update will finally turn off the lights on several major features of the Legion, but will also significantly change the way World of Warcraft plays, laying the groundwork for Battle for Azeroth when it arrives August 13 in North America. Blizzard has detailed all the upcoming changes with 8.0. While you should consult the complete list to see some of the most subtle settings (especially to your clbad and how it plays), here are some of the key highlights.

New Quests

One of the most exciting features of any pre-expansion update is the addition of new quests that help bring the two (often very different) stories together. In this case, Blizzard prepares the ground for a war between the Alliance and the Horde by introducing a new scenario that dramatically changes the landscape of Azeroth in two key areas.

From July 24th until the launch of Battle for Azeroth, players can participate in a quest that ends with the destruction of two major capitals: Teldrbadil and Lordaeron. First announced at Blizzcon 2017, these events will help set in motion the biggest conflict that hangs over Battle for Azeroth.

A Major Overhaul of the Fight

When you connect to World of Warcraft tomorrow, the spells and abilities of your character will be quite different. New traits have been introduced and familiar spells may have new effects to consider. Although there is a complete list of changes made to each clbad in the way notes, two changes that affect everyone is a squish stat and the new global cooldown on some abilities.

Say goodbye to critical blows that do tens of millions of damage. The 8.0 update sends the equipment level and statistics to more "perceptible" sizes to make things manageable. From what I played on the beta, I now do damage in the hundreds and thousands instead of the millions. It's a completely arbitrary change, though. You are not more or less powerful than before, it's just the numbers that govern everything that has been condensed.

A more controversial change is the inclusion of several abilities on the global cooldown. This means that some spells that you can cast immediately have a recovery time to accelerate the fight and make it less hectic.

Starting from patch 8.0, Legion's artifact weapons will completely lose their power and become as effective as weapons. Since the system is specific to the Legion, he is essentially retired in favor of new equipment arriving with Battle for Azeroth. As the blog article indicates, many of the unique features found in Artifact weapons have been incorporated directly into their respective clbad specializations.

And this is only the tip of the iceberg. There will be many more things to come in Patch 8.0 tomorrow, including new PvP rules that completely eliminate PVP-specific servers, new cosmetic options for Orcs and Blood Elves, and new social features. Be sure to check the release notes for a complete list of what's coming up.
