WATCH OUT: See the new Moto E5 with Android Go

CAPE TOWN – Motorola has released a version of its Moto E5 Play smartphone running on Android Go.

The device has an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera , with a fingerprint sensor at the back of its rounded chbadis. The Moto E5 Play is one of the first devices with Android Go to be delivered this year and is Motorola's first device to use the lightweight operating system.

Android Go is a version of Android 8.0 Oreo designed for economical smartphones, offering less storage and use of RAM. It will include fewer pre-installed apps, as well as apps optimized to run on devices with less storage.

The operating system is lighter and cleaner, although it sacrifices a number of features to achieve it. The E5 includes other high-end features, including a fingerprint sensor and a 5.3-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 18: 9.

Motorola said its new Moto E5 Play would be available this month in various countries in Europe and Latin America. 109 euros (1693.71 euros). In the UK, the device will be available from July 14 and prices are £ 69 (R1208.09) for pre-payment or £ 89 (R1558.26) for SIM only.

Availability for South Africa has not been announced yet.
