Nokia 5.1 Plus arrives and HMD does not need a poll for this

HMD Global is becoming one of the most prolific Android smartphone manufacturers and you may not know it. This is mainly because their smartphones are, of course, marked as Nokia phones. But more than the name, they have proven to be formidable contenders on the market and almost every new model is anticipated. The new mid-range Nokia X5 is no different and HMD Global has more or less confirmed its arrival in the rest of the world.

The Nokia X5 is the younger brother of the Nokia X6 in more ways than one. While both share the same notch screen design, a first for Nokia phones, the Nokia X5 carries more modest hardware. This includes a MediaTek Helio P60, 3 or 4GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of storage, and a 1520 × 720 5.86-inch HDR screen.

Almost right after the launch of the smartphone, HMD Global also launched the Nokia 6.1 Plus. As rumors before hinted, it was practically the Nokia X6 with two important differences. One, it was running on Android One (8.1 Oreo) and, two, it was going to be made available to markets outside of China.

Unsurprisingly, some wanted the Nokia X5 to receive the same treatment. Juho Sarvikas, product director at HMD Global, replied on Twitter that they did not think they needed to do a survey for this. This was in reference to a survey that the company did for the Nokia X6, proving how much there was an interest in making it available internationally.

Sarvikas, of course, does not mention the Nokia 5.1 Plus by his name, but it's easy to put two and two together. The biggest question is whether it, or the Nokia 6.1 Plus from elsewhere, will actually be in the United States.
