Thursday night at Comic-Con, the SYFY network shared the first full trailer of Nightflyers the new series based on George RR Martin's novel, which the author has described as " Psycho in space ". 19659002] And it is certainly an appropriate description for Nightflyers which is based on the science fiction horror book of 1980 that follows eight scientists and a telepath on a contact mission with the extraterrestrial life of the solar system. The news has been a long and strange way to reach television. Martin sold the film and television rights Nightflyers to writer and producer Robert Jaffe in 1984. Jaffe wrote the screenplay for a film version of Nightflyers that he also helped produce
. The film, directed by Robert Collector, was released in 1987. Jaffe is now a producer on the television show – which will be Syfy's most expensive original series of all time – with Netflix acting as a co-producer. W
Martin is in exclusive contract with HBO and can not contribute to the writing (he will be credited as executive producer), this TV series is intended to follow his original novel closer than the film.
The show premieres this fall on SYFY.
