Aston Martin is apparently considering a six-cylinder Mercedes-Benz for the DBX.
The company's first crossover would be compatible with Mercedes-Benz's new 3.0 liter M256 turbocharged inline six-cylinder. , which provides up to 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. The factory employs a lightweight 48-volt hybrid system to wind an auxiliary compressor, thus reducing turbo lag.
"It would be a very good engine and potentially a combination," said Marek Reichmann, creative director of Aston Martin recently. as cited by Motoring .
The executive laughed at the possibility of adding a diesel powertrain, saying "Never! No diesels." He also warned that SUV production will not follow the two-door coupe format of the 2015 concept.
"He is and will be a real five-door car, as a competitor of Cayenne, Bentayga, Urus and Cullinan but our vision of this type of car – and considering our seven cars in seven years – understanding what this customer wants in this segment of the car, "he added.
The DBX should start moving out of the badembly line at the end of next year.
