Here, ladies and gentlemen, the new BMW M Performance Parts Concept, a demonstration car based on the M2 but whose aerodynamics are "optimized" by more than 60 kg and lighter
will make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the concept is finished in Frozen Black with M Performance Gold packaging. Inside, you will find expanses of Alcantara and carbon fiber, as well as additional gold accents.
Although the concept is obviously equipped with elements of the M Performance Parts catalog of the Munich brand, it also presents new features that should be added to the list in the coming days and months.
This M Performance carbon grille (here with gold accents) will be available for the M2 competition this month, just like the M Performance carbon bonnet (which is 8 kg lighter than the standard item). New carbon fiber front side panels will be available from November 2018 and will reduce the weight of the vehicle by an additional 3 kg, while improving aerodynamics.
You will probably also notice the carbon fiber front fins and the carbon fiber side. the sill fins, as well as the carbon fiber roof M Performance (the latter will be available from March 2019), which shaves 6 kg more.
The same weight gain is achieved with the introduction of the Frozen Gold 19-inch M Performance forged alloys (in 763M Y-ray design), here shod with semi-slicks. At the rear, a carbon fiber hatchback (offered from November 2018) saves 5 kg more, while a carbon fiber rear diffuser promotes aerodynamics.
The BMW M Performance Parts concept also includes the M Performance suspension system. mounting which lowers the vehicle by 20 mm. The damping of the suspension is independently adjustable to 12 separate compression stages and 16 rebound stages. The springs are finished in black, as are the brake calipers. An additional weight reduction of 14 kg is achieved through the use of a lighter battery.
Inside, carbon fiber sports seats (9 kg lighter than standard) are lined with Alcantara and include a folding function that makes rear access easier. The two lightweight rear benches are covered with Alcantara and reduce the weight of the vehicle by an additional 13 kg.
