Nothing has more united the Destin community than the impending death of Cayde-6. The adorable crook is dying during the first moments of Forsaken Expansion of Destiny 2, His death was featured in a short trailer at Sony's E3 press conference, shocking every Guardian who was watching her, and confirming many theories about the fate of this character leading to the E3. the decision to end one of his most iconic characters may seem unthinking, it's one of the best choices Bungie has made, igniting a fire in his community and giving Destiny 2 a better chance of survival.

All Destiny 2 Clbades – Including Upcoming News in Forsaken

Unlike the other protagonists of Destiny 2, Cayde-6 is the lightweight leader with which most players are supposed to identify. me, either by relaxing in the Tower, or by exploding aliens with exotic weapons. During several missions, Cayde-6 designates you as his favorite goalkeeper. We are special to him, no matter what reckless or reckless choice we make. Cayde-6 is a beacon of positivity and encouragement, pushing us to be always better

That makes killing it much more of an impact than killing someone like Ikora Rey or Zavala . Both characters are crucial to the story, but serve as severe and responsible parents for our Guardians. At times, these vanguard leaders can be infuriating to deal with – Zavala in particular – as they reprimand us for taking action in our own hands. Which is a bit odd given the frequency with which we saved the world. It is hard to connect with them and sometimes we offend their decisions – even if they are completely correct.

We've already lost characters in Destiny – including The Speaker – but none of them sound like Cayde. Of course, seeing the President die was sad, but almost a year later does anyone even care that this person is gone? During the Savathun Song Strike, it is revealed that the Hive turns the Guardians into crystals. It's horrible, but Bungie pbades on this concept by confining it to a single mission. We do not have the chance to understand the weight of what is happening. On the other hand, there is an intimacy to the death of Cayde-6 that does not look like anything in Destiny.

A big reason for this is that we have never established a relationship with The President and other characters. Players interact with Cayde-6 every week, hearing his voice during strikes, seeing him all over the Destiny 2 ad. He is present at an abundance of activities and missions in the game. Cayde -6 is impossible to ignore and even more difficult not to hang on.

Having Prince Uldren – someone whose fate community is already wary of – breaking down the incarnation of joy with his own weapon solidifies the threat he poses. Whether it is the own cannon of Cayde-6 only amplifies malicious cruelty. The handgun – the ace of spades – bears the name of his son, whom he has since forgotten since he has become an exo. It's a silent reminder of who Cayde-6 was and Prince Awoken not only uses it, but takes it with him. With one bullet, Prince Uldren tore the fabric of Destiny 2 more than all the trillions of bullets we fired on his giant, strange and mystical aliens.

Now the community wants blood – The smug prince, to be precise. His actions spat in the eye of the entire base of the player and showed them that nothing is really sacred. The party is over and Bungie is clearly aiming to usher in a darker tone for the next expansion.

Yet, for this death to really mean something, it must be permanent. Cayde-6, whatever happens, should not come back during the lifetime of Destiny 2. While our heroes have a knack for escaping death, it's clear that Bungie has no intention to bring back this Exo.

This raises concerns about who will or can replace Cayde-6 when he is gone. There are a number of famous hunters in Destiny like Shiro-4, but they all lack charisma and bluster. If Bungie brings someone back then it's imperative that they're not a clone of Cayde-6 – the personality of this new character should shine.

Finally, the fate of Cayde-6 must dominate the game as a constant reminder that Destiny 2 may still be surprising.
