Dark Phoenix and "new mutants" are not canceled

John is an essential character in the new X-Men movie, as he focuses on his transformation into the genocidal cosmic deity known as the Phoenix. But Turner is committed to shooting the last season of Game of Thrones in which his character Sansa Stark plays a central role in the latest episodes. Now that the new season is over, she can fulfill her X-related duties.

Turner also spoke with Digital Spy earlier in July, reiterating that she was preparing to return for referrals to Canada.

"I think it's just a few bits and bobs, reshoot-wise," Turner said. "To be honest, I do not even know what we're doing right now, so I could not really tell you more about it.

"All I know is that I will be back in Montreal soon, and that the date of Valentine's Day is a rather positive thing, because Black Panther was released on Valentine's Day. So we remain positive about it.

According to rumors, The New Mutants is expected to undergo more substantial changes, including the addition of an entirely new character. With regard to these types of rumors, it is always best to consider the source.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is due to be released in cinemas on February 14, 2019. The New Mutants will premiere on August 2, 2019.
