I keep a tight budget and plan ahead before I plan how much to spend on restaurants and stores. I am very strict with my expenses. In the past, I discovered that I was spending too much on useless things.
How to learn a culture and meet people without speaking their language?
I recently learned a few basic words in Cantonese. trip to Hong Kong in May. I also read local travel bloggers and see what local events / restaurants / activities they recommend.
How do you stay healthy when traveling?
I always stay hydrated and carry my own travel water bottle that I refill every morning at the hotel, reducing my use of plastic bottles. I try not to overdo it on the first day in a new city

I love to discover the fitness activities taking place in the city I travel and I enroll in a few courses. It's a great way to meet locals. When I travel to Hong Kong, I organize a 5-kilometer morning with conference delegates, which keeps me in shape. The other days, I enrolled in Kung Fu and Thai Chi workshops.
Where is the best place where you traveled and why?
Madagascar is one of my favorite destinations. It's a quick flight from JHB, and an affordable travel destination, with scuba diving and beautiful beaches.
