During the Netflix panel at the 2018 Anime Expo, they announced dates for upcoming titles, including the anime adaptation of Cannon Busters . After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Netflix has purchased 12 episodes, adapted from a 2003 comic book of the same title. Cannon Busters was created by LeSean Thomas, screenwriter and character designer known for his work on The Boondocks the animated series Black Dynamite and The Legend of Korra
Cannon Busters tells the story of a royal droid named SAM, who is looking for his best friend and heir to the throne. Along the way, she is joined by an old maintenance droid and a fugitive. The 12-episode buy series is part of the imminent wave of animated Netflix titles, including Ultraman Kengan Ashura and the second season of Aggretsuko .
