The Inter-Ministerial Committee met last week on Friday, June 29, 2018, and we are pleased to share the activities and progress report on the implementation of the Global National Program for Education. Centenary of our two icons of the struggle, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela under the theme: "Be the Legacy", as well as Mama Albertina Nontsikelelo Sisulu under the theme: "A woman of courage".
These celebrations are a milestone in the incredible story of Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu in The Journey of Our Nation to Freedom and Liberation.
The centennial celebrations of these two icons have a significant impact on the gathering of various South Africans. These celebrations are intended to highlight the principles and values adopted by these great Africans and to galvanize the spirit of national pride and Ubuntu
It is expected that the messages shared through these celebrations will contribute to the celebration. eliminating the barriers that divide us, as we strive to build on the many bonds that unite us. The objectives of the Centennial Program are as follows:
Encourage all sectors of the South African population to devote one day each day to Mandela Day
Using Centennial Celebration Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu to Promote Cohesion social, nation-building and inclusive citizenship
Promoting a national identity that celebrates its cultural diversity
Raise awareness, through educational programs, of public dialogues and commitments, of importance and importance the relevance of Nelson Values and legacy of Mandela and Albertina Sisulu
Promoting the active participation of all South Africans in the commemoration and celebration of national holidays

On May 26, 2018, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation paid tribute to Nelson Mandela by dedicating to him the 2018 Annual Regional Sports Awards in his memory. We thank Multichoice for establishing a channel for Mandela; Media 24 for the launch of the 100 Mandela campaign and we congratulate the young nominees. We encourage them to pursue Madiba's principles in their respective roles in society.

This month of July we celebrate the birth of the founding father of our democracy under the theme: " Be The Legacy: Celebrating the birth of a global icon and a life of service. This year Nelson Mandela's International Day coincides with Madiba's Centennial and offers us the opportunity to reflect on his legacy and to continue to honor Mandela's work for the liberation of society
we are confronted with social and economic challenges, including abuse of women and children, high unemployment, poverty, crime and corruption.
This month of Mandela is a national call to action for all citizens. in their respective communities. Mandela Day should remain a day of service and should not lose its essence.
As Tata Madiba's birth day approaches, we encourage all sectors of society to recommit themselves to making the year 2018 the moment of transformation gained traction in our country well -love. Not just as a populist slogan, but as a call to action to do things differently.
We therefore call on all sectors of society to ensure the sustainability of the Mandela Day initiatives. July 18 should not be isolated for acts of service, let Mandela Day be a lasting partner. To achieve this goal, the interdepartmental committee asked national ministers and deputy ministers, members of provincial leaders and members of municipal executive councils (MECs) to identify projects and activities for the month of Nelson Mandela .
