Steam lists its best PC games in the middle of the year 2018

The Valve Steam Digital PC Store revealed the best-selling games on its platform in 2018.

The list divides the games into several levels, with Platinum leading the way. We asked Valve what is the threshold for a game to be considered Platinum on Steam. They appear in groups in no particular order. So we know which games were among the best sellers, but we do not know which one is at the top of the pack

The Platinum games include:

  • Kingdom Come: Rescue
  • Rocket League
  • Civilization VI
  • ] Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
  • Dota 2
  • Jurbadic World: evolution
  • Warhammer: Vermintide II
  • Rainbow Six: Siege
  • Grand-Theft Auto V
  • Warframe [19659005] Playerunkown's Battlegrounds [19659005] Far Cry 5

The list includes many games that you would expect to see, such as Waltz Strikes Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 with Triple-A Titles like Far Cry 5 and Grand Theft Auto V. The list includes some surprises, including Jurbadic World: Evolution, a licensed fleet simulator that just came out on June 12th.

Warframe also made Platinum. The free-to-play cooperative shooter was launched in 2013, but it has been able to prosper thanks to ongoing support and content updates. The inclusion of free-to-play games on the list indicates that the "bestseller" is based on the business figure, not the literal number of digital copies sold.

Valve also listed the best selling VR games of the year. You can see this list here. VR indie hits like Beat Saber and Super Hot VR have managed to make the Platinum category with games like Fallout 4 VR and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR

Valve has also recognized games that have had more than 100,000 players simultaneous in 2018.

  • Counter-Strike: world offensive
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • Battlefields of Playerunknown
  • Warframe
  • Rainbow six: Siege
  • Dota 2

No surprise.
