Amar Samad has been living with the giant tumor for over 10 years. He struggled to eat, see and even breathe properly as a result of the deformity that covered most of the left side of his face.
The tumor was the result of a disease known as hyperparathyroidism-jaw tumor syndrome. According to the National Library of Medicine of the United States, the syndrome of hyperparathyroidism-jaw tumor is a condition characterized by overactivity of the parathyroid glands.

Samad comes from a small village in Jharkhand, to the west of Kolkata, where he grew up as an orphan. His father died when he was a toddler and his mother abandoned him, forcing a seven-year-old Samad to work as a servant in nearby Punjab.
The tumor began to grow at the age of nine years. When Samad returned home, he was stripped of the little money that he had made by people who promised to help him with his condition.
However, Samad refused to let his adversities outweigh him. By the time the tumor spread to the size of a football, a group of surgeons at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi decided to intervene and l & # 39; 39, help for free.
