The new Toyota Supra breaks its cover at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed

T has had some spectacular "leaks" internet on the new Supra sports coupe lately, but here it is, in a dazzling camouflage very toothpaste, slamming the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The name Supra, for Toyota's flagship sports car, was missing for 16 years after four generations. This new fifth generation car will be on sale next year. This is the result of a collaborative program with BMW (which will release its version, the new Z4, at about the same time).

What we can tell you is that Supra will be powered by a BMW 3.0 liter six-cylinder turbocharged, with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and possibly a limited slip electronic differential – advertised powers go beyond largely 330 hp.

Add the shared carbon-rich bodywork thanks to BMW's experience with the BMW i3 battery-powered electric car of the same stature and it's clear that this is going to be a very serious machine indeed.

After the appearance of the racing version of the Supra at the Geneva Motor Show in March, there are strong indications that Toyota will be campaigning under the Gazoo Racing banner around the world, even at Le Mans in the category GTE for production cars.
