Up to six Xeon cores, GPU Pro

This week, HP upgraded its mini Z2 Mini workstation with Intel's latest Intel Core and Xeon E processors with up to six cores as well as professional-quality graphics cards from Microsoft. AMD or NVIDIA. The HP Z2 Mini G4 machines have retained a very compact form factor of the previous generation Z2 Mini systems, but have significantly improved performance compared to models launched more than a year and a half ago.

HP workstations Z2 Mini fourth-generation black chbadis made of a metal alloy and featuring some plastic parts. The box measures 216 × 216 × 58 mm (8.5 × 8.5 × 2.28 inches), which is larger than the Intel NUCs (and their other brand derivatives), but is smaller than typical gaming systems with discrete GPUs. The miniature size is of course the main selling point of the HP Z2 Mini G4, but the fact that HP did not compromise the performance for the dimensions is no less important.

The HP Z2 Mini G4 is based on a custom Intel C246 motherboard supporting Intel LGA1151 v2 processors, such as Intel Core or Intel Xeon E with up to four cores. Performance versions of the system support discrete MXM graphics modules equipped with AMD Radeon Pro WX 4150 GPUs with 4GB of memory, or NVIDIA Quadro P600 or Quadro P1000 with 4GB of GDDR5. HP, on the other hand, offered only one dGPU option with the previous-generation Z2 Mini G3

With regard to memory and storage, the HP Z2 Mini G4 has two SO-DIMM slots supporting up to To 32 GB of DDR4-2667, an M.2 slot compatible with HP's HP Turbo Drive G2 SSD SSD (up to 1 TB) and a 2.5-inch bay for an SSD or disk drive hard SATA. For entry-level configurations, HP will offer a combination of Intel's Optane Memory SSDs and HGST's 7200-RPM 1TB hard drive. Meanwhile, depending on the version and power consumption of the exact configurations of HP's new SFF workstations, the products will be equipped with external power supply blocks 135 – 310 W.

Let's move on to connectivity . The new HP Z2 Mini G4 has a GbE connector (Intel i219-LM), 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 5.0 (enabled by the Intel Wireless-AC 9560 CNVi solution and a bitrate up to 1, 73 Gbps on 160 MHz channels), two or three DisplayPort 1.2 outputs (depending on the model), two USB 3.0 Type-A headers, two USB-Type Gen2-C ports, as well as input connectors / audio output

Like many other HP workstations, the HP Z2 Mini G4 supports the company's Sure Start Gen4 and HP Sure Run technologies that enable critical processes to run even when malware is trying to stop them.

HP will sell the fourth-generation Z2 Mini G4 workstations later this month. Entry-level models without a discrete GPU will cost from $ 799, the high-end models will naturally be much more expensive.
