The new Suzuki Jimny is en route to South Africa, with a local launch planned for November 2018. We already know that the outgoing generation is rather practical off-road, but now we have the first official videos showing the fourth -gen model that tackles various obstacles off the beaten path.
In SA, the Jimny should be powered by a "newly developed" 1.5-liter gasoline engine. This naturally aspirated four-cylinder K15B engine produces 75 kW and 130 Nm (up from 63 kW and 110 Nm offered by the outgoing 1.3 liter), and will again be offered with the choice of a box five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
The ground clearance is 210 mm, while the latest generation model has an approach angle of 37 degrees, a tilt angle of 28 degrees and a departure angle of 49 degrees. Rolled on 15-inch wheels with 195/80 R15 rubber, the small Jimny is supported by a "newly developed" ladder frame chbadis with a front engine, rear-wheel drive, mid-wheel drive -time (with transmission at short range) and suspension with three rigid arms. Something that Suzuki calls "LSD traction control brake" (which you can see in action below) is also included.
Look at the Jimny go off-road in the two videos below (the voiceover, of course, is in Japanese) … 19659002]
