Woman, 92, kills son who wanted to put her in a retirement home

A 92-year-old woman from Arizona reportedly shot her 72-year-old son after trying to help her make a living, police said.

Police arrived at Anna Mae Blessing's home in Fountain Hills, Arizona On Monday, she found her son, Thomas Blessing, dead on the floor of the master bedroom with a gunshot wound to his neck and jaw, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office

Police said they found Blessing sitting on a sunbed.

Blessing told the police that she had killed her son because she wanted to take her to an badisted living center.

Blessing He entered the master bedroom and started arguing with his 57-year-old son and girlfriend and told them that she was tired of the way she was being treated when she was in bed. she shot her son. She then tried to shoot her son's girlfriend, but the young woman managed to drive him away from Blessing and threw him in a corner, police said.

Blessing told police that she had bought handguns in the 1970s and that she had come to live with her son and girlfriend four months ago. She told the police that she had been up for three or four nights thinking that her son had told her that he was going to place her in a second home.

After firing at his son, Blessing checked his pulse to confirm that he was dead, according to the police. She said that when she went back to her room, she wanted to commit suicide but did not have a weapon because her son's girlfriend had pushed them away.

She was arrested and when the police asked her what she had to do, she said, "It is still worrying that domestic problems escalate into violence or tragic consequences," said the county sheriff. Maricopa, Paul Penzone, in a statement. "They are often isolated and are neither predictable nor preventable."

Blessing faces a charge of first degree murder, aggravated badault with lethal weapon and kidnapping.
