After a success with a $ 2,495 electric motorcycle, CSC is back with an electric scooter at 43 mph

Electric scooters for one or two passengers are part of the growing market of personal electric vehicles. Although they have been successful in Europe and Asia for years, they are just starting to make themselves known in the United States. Americans do not have many options yet, but CSC Motorcycles in Azusa, California, is working to address this situation. Their new electric scooter called The Wiz is one of the fastest and longest options available.

CSC Motorcycles Adds New Electric Vehicles to Its Range

Last year, CSC Motorcycles enjoyed success with its electric two-wheelers with its electric motorcycle City Slicker.

We initially reported on the City Slicker, then had the chance to try one for ourselves. We gave it a thumbs up after its improved controller turned it into a small sporty crotch rocket.

The light electric motorcycle looks like an electric Honda Grom. It reaches a top speed of about 74 km / h (46 mph) and a range of 48 to 72 km (30 to 45 miles), depending on the hardness of your driving.

Although some people consider the City Slicker to be more in the scooter category because of its superior top speed, it really looks like a motorcycle.

The City Slicker is fun to ride, but it's not quite as useful as the classic scooter design – the comfort and storage options it offers. It is partly for this reason that the CSC has decided to offer an electric scooter based on a similar model.

The Wiz electric scooter shares a battery similar to the City Slicker, although its capacity is increased a bit, from 1.8 kWh to 2.1 kWh. The battery can either be charged directly to the scooter or removed to be charged inside. It should be able to operate between 33 and 48 miles (53-77 km). The scooter weighs only 91 kg (201 lb), but has a load capacity of 155 kg (342 lb).

The City Slicker and Wiz share a 3kW engine, but the Wiz uses a rear hub motor instead of an average drive. The Wiz also has a storage space under the seat and a trunk, included, free of charge, as well as seats for two people.

And while this is not recommended, scooters also have the option of depositing bulky and bulky objects on the floor. In fact, I wore electric scooters and electric unicycles, there is already my own electric scooter. Nothing like an electric vehicle used to transport another!

This added utility is one of the main reasons why many cyclists opt for an electric scooter rather than for a light electric motorcycle. As Steve Seidner, owner of CSC Motorcycles, told Electrek:

"Many young boys seem to prefer the City Slicker, while the Wiz is more popular with people who want to carry more things or want a more relaxed ride. It's still pretty energetic, especially for a scooter, but it's so easy to drive that it's really appealing to people. "

At only $ 2,495, it is certainly affordable too, at least for an electric scooter. While cheap 50cc gasoline scooters can be purchased cheaply, the Wiz is quiet and clean. And since there is no stop at petrol stations, it is also less expensive to drive.

I recently calculated how much I had spent on energy for my own electric scooter. The mileage indicator shows almost 700 miles, which cost me about $ 4.10 in electricity. It's not bad in my opinion, 700 miles for less than the cost of a gallon and a half of gas.

And while CSC has not yet got rid of its gas-powered motorcycles, the company seems rather determined to integrate electric vehicles into their lineup. After all, it's the second two-wheeled electric vehicle in as many years. As Steve says:

"Gas bikes are still the core of our business, but we've seen growing interest in electric motorcycles and scooters in recent years. It seems like most are so expensive, so we wanted to use our consumer-driven business model to offer an affordable electric scooter and motorcycle. "

The Wiz includes features such as reverse gear, regenerative braking, USB charging, cruise control and three-speed options.

Is the Wiz the fastest electric scooter in the United States?

As I said earlier, the United States does not have to choose from a wide range of electric scooters. And those that exist are not speedsters either.

We recently reviewed the Bloom scooter, whose top speed at 25 mph definitely ranked it in the category of urban scooters.

Electrek has been testing a GenZe 2.0 electric scooter for a long time, which works very well. But with a top speed of 30 mph, it can leave you wanting more when you take larger urban roads.

Mopeds' stream in Wisconsin offers a model at 37 mph, although the lead time for orders is about 2 months at best.

But at 43.5 mph, the CSC WSC may be the fastest electric scooter in the United States. Or at least it will be when it will be in stock in July. In the meantime, customers can deposit a $ 500 deposit for the delivery of one of the first CSC electric scooters.

Make sure you tell us what you think about Wiz in the comments section below. And check out our review of the other CSC electric vehicle, the City Slicker electric bike, in the video below.
