Most people have stepped back from the sight of a disturbing CGI version of Sonic the Hedgehog when Paramount released its first trailer for the upcoming live action movie – and the studio listened.

Director Jeff Fowler tweeted today about the violent reaction, assuring fans in distress that critics were heard loud and clear. Fowler confirmed that changes were being made to Sonic's character design. "You're not happy with the design and you want some changes," Fowler said. tweeted. "It will happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega is fully committed to making this character the BEST they can be. "

Since the revelation of the trailer, many fans have toured Twitter, Tumblr and Reddit, with refined drawings on various horrific aspects of the body found Sonic. Long legs of human appearance? Nope. The mouth full of human teeth? Double Nope. Even the original character creator of Sonic the Hedgehog has added his thoughts to the conversation on Twitter.

"Until now, several Sonics have appeared," tweeted Naoto Ohsima. "I liked all the Sonics. I saw a trailer of the Sonic movie. I expected adults to have fun too. I'm worried. Even Ohsima knows that the intense reaction to the redesign of Sonic comes from a place of adoration for the character.

That does not help that Sonic's new design comes in, while Warner Bros. receives praise for the adorable iteration of the beloved character of The Pokémon Company, Pikachu Detective Pikachu. Hopefully Sonic will soon have a new design and will involve fewer teeth. Fowler did not specify whether the decision to completely change the character's appearance, which is probably not an easy task, would delay the film's release.

Sonic the hedgehog is currently scheduled for theatrical release on November 8th.
