Airline industry pushes back CDC guidelines that vaccinated people should always avoid travel

In a new statement, industry group Airlines For America insists being on a plane poses a low risk of coronavirus infection due to heavily filtered air and wearing a mandated mask by the federal government. “We remain convinced that this multi-layered approach significantly reduces risk,” the group said.

The announcement comes after the CDC said those who are vaccinated may encounter other vaccinated people and even low-risk people who are not vaccinated but should still avoid travel.

“Every time there is an increase in travel, we have an increase in cases in this country,” CDC director Dr Rochelle Walensky said at Monday’s White House coronavirus response briefing .

Health experts continue to fear that spring break could lead to higher rates of coronavirus infection.

It seems that more and more people are already starting to travel.

The Transportation Security Administration said it screened nearly 1.3 million people at airports on Sunday, the highest figure since holiday trips on Jan. 3. The TSA has screened nearly a million or more than a million people every day since Thursday, which means 4.5 million people have stolen in four days.

This is the second pandemic-related disagreement between the airline industry and the new Biden administration.
