Alabama added more than 2,500 new COVID cases to its total.
The Alabama Department of Public Health shows the state has recorded 665,653 coronavirus cases since March 2020, an increase of 2,588 from the previous day. The deaths remained the same at 12,000.
Five counties posted triple-digit increases: Baldwin, 137; Jefferson, 413; Madison, 264; Mobile, 301; and Shelby, 118.
According to the Alabama Hospital Association, Alabama has 2,699 people hospitalized with the virus. Of these, 2,661 are adults and 38 are pediatric cases. Among hospitalized patients – excluding pediatric patients – 84% were not vaccinated, 4% were partially vaccinated and 12% were fully vaccinated.
Alabama has 1,523 intensive care patients with 1,497 staffed intensive care beds.
