Alabama was back on the training ground after Saturday's race. The Crimson Tide was working inside despite a nice day in Tuscaloosa, perhaps because Sunday rain had soggy fields.
It was a complete practice of the pads. Here are some notes from the open period:
- Wide receiver Henry Ruggs III, who was released Saturday while attending a family member's funeral, was still out today. We will check for him Wednesday.
- Without Ruggs, this is what the wide receiver groups look like:
First group | Jerry Jeudy | DeVonta Smith | Jaylen Waddle |
Second group | John Metchie | Tyrell Razors | Slade Bolden |
Third group | does not work on the list | Xavier Williams | Mac Hereford |
-
- linebacker Ben Davis walked outside the practice in black jersey. Shyheim Carter was there with the DB, also in black. Terrell Lewis was with the OLB in black jersey.
- Offensive lineman Matt Womack and tight end Kedrick James were dressed and participated with their respective position groups.
- Checked the offensive line today, and I'm not sure Deonte Brown is in great shape at the moment. It took a little time to get back into shape after arriving on campus as a freshman. It may not be a big deal at the moment because he's suspended the first four games of next season, but keep an eye on whether he'll be in shape this fall.
- DB Jalyn Armor-Daviswho has a knee injury at the end of the season in the fall, exercises with a sleeve on his injured leg and a splint for the knee over it.
- If you are curious (and I am), Tino Sunseri seems to work with the QB as a graduate assistant.
- Paul Bryant Jr. has quietly verified the practice today. This is the second time this spring that I see him there, maybe because Paul Tyson is outside.
