BILOXI, Mississippi – An Alabama man is accused of shooting and killing a man in a Mississippi casino gambling hall early Saturday, authorities said.
Jereme Lamond Jones, 30, of Mobile, was arrested for first degree murder, WLOX reported. He is accused of shooting Randy Johnson, 41, of Gulfport, at the Golden Nugget Casino in Biloxi, the TV station reported.
Jones was armed with a pistol when he was arrested near the Biloxi Bay Bridge, according to WLOX.
The shooting took place at around 12:30 a.m. CDT on Saturday, according to a statement from the Biloxi Police Department. Investigators believe the two had an argument outside the casino. Jones followed Johnson into the casino and fired several close-range shots at the gambling hall, according to the police statement.
No one else was hurt, AL.com reported.
It is not known if Jones and Johnson knew each other or what caused the initial altercation, CNN reported.
Johnson was the father of two daughters and a son, according to WLOX. He was also a barber at King’s Barbershop in Gulfport.
Jones was held in Harrison County Jail on $ 1 million bail, AL.com reported.
