As in Alaska, gonorrhea rates are increasing across the country and the medical community is exhausting treatment options to treat an infection that is becoming increasingly drug-resistant. Since 2012, gonorrhea in Alaska has increased by 208%.
Alaska has the highest rate of sexually transmitted infectious diseases in the country. Half of STDs are in the 15 to 24 age group.
