At 2:18 a.m., the Albert Lea Police Department responded to a report of a possible noise complaint or weapons violation. It was reported that fireworks or gunshots were heard in the area of ​​800 4th Avenue South.

As an officer arrived at the scene, a suspect shot the officer several times, two shots hit the team vehicle, and one shot hit the officer. According to the police department, the officer was able to move to a safety zone, assess possible injuries and go directly to the emergency room.

Additional agents responded and established a perimeter. SCDIU SWAT has also been activated with the support of the SWAT teams (Mankato and Austin).

Police say there are two other male victims. One was transported to Rochester. Injury to the officer’s chest; processed and released.
