Barack Obama gave Drake his mark of approval to portray him in a film about his life.

While there is no biopic on the life of the former president currently in the works, the rapper has previously said he would love to be selected to play Obama if a project emerges. Speaking with Complex’s “360 With Speedy Morman” for an interview, Obama was directly asked if he would be comfortable with Drake representing him.

“I’ll say this,” Obama began. “Drake seems to be able to do whatever he wants. I mean, he’s a talented, talented brother. So if the time comes and he’s ready, you know… ”

The former president added that he believes his daughters, who are fans of Drake, would be even more excited than he is if the role comes to fruition.

The desire to see the “God’s Plan” rapper portray the 44th President goes back more than 10 years. In 2010, Drake told Paper magazine that he watched Obama so religiously that he already felt ready to accurately portray him in a movie.

“I hope someone will soon make a movie about Obama’s life because I could play it,” he said at the time. “I look at all the addresses. Every time I see him on TV I don’t change the channel, I really pay attention and I listen to the inflections of his voice. If you ask someone who knows me I’m pretty good at prints. Slowly but surely I’m not in study mode because no one has called me about anything, but I’m just being careful so when the day comes I don’t scramble to learn to speak like him.

Elsewhere in the freewheeling interview with Morman, Obama was asked about 45th President Donald Trump and his refusal to concede the 2020 election.

“Here we have already voted and there are a lot of people who feel like ‘Look, I voted, and my vote still doesn’t matter because the president won’t be leaving the White House,’ he said. Morman asked.

“Oh, he’s going to leave the White House,” Obama replied confidently. “He might not like to leave, he might not be a graceful loser, but he lost and he will leave and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will end up being president and vice president of the United States and that will make a difference. “
