IDK if you’ve heard, but we just had an election, and after days of sweating / waiting / crying / panicking, a winner has finally been announced.

Anyway, a new episode of SNL aired the same day the election results were announced, so you can imagine the show’s cast and writers had a lot to say about the whole affair.
Among them, Alec Baldwin, who has been posing as Donald Trump on the show since 2016.
When the election was called, the actor, who won an Emmy for his portrayal of the president, expressed his feelings quite clearly.
That’s right, the end of the Trump presidency means the end of a brand SNL performance.

His first appearance as Donald Trump was the premiere of Season 42, in which he parodied Trump’s first presidential debate against Hilary Clinton. I feel like I’ve aged 86 years since that first broadcast.
For his last hurray, Baldwin-as-Trump appeared in the open and gave a speech recalling the President’s latest remarks from the White House.
Then he walked off the stage and walked over to a piano, where he started playing a dark version of “Macho Man” by The Village People, before saying, “This isn’t the end of the game. America. I’ll see you in court! “

Trump had performed the song, along with The Village People’s “YMCA,” at his pre-election rallies.
The moment recalled the first SNL episode after the 2016 election, when Kate McKinnon-as-Hillary Clinton played Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”.

Where the moment with Kate-as-Hillary was more serious, this one was definitely more ironic.
At the end of the show, Baldwin held up a sign saying, “You are welcome,” likely for his years of service in a job he said was not always easy to pull off.
After the show, he also tweeted a farewell message.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a few more appearances from Trump on SNL, but it certainly seems like a farewell at the moment.
