Alex Cora knew that he wanted Nathan Eovaldi back in the Red Sox uniform before his brilliant performance at the Game 3 World Series when the Boston thrower pitched six innings and more in extras before giving up a circuit at home.
The right-hander was acquired by the Red Sox in July through a deal with the Tampa Bay Rays. It proved to be a basic asset in the rotation. He launched 15 white innings in his first two starts. We were pretty sure that he was one of those guys we wanted to come back to and that we had in this rotation. "
Boston and Eovaldi have signed a four-year contract worth $ 68 million after posting a 1.61 MPM in October.
"As for things, he's one of the best in big leagues," added Cora. "In the end, he found some stuff about himself. We learned a lot about him. He should have a solid season. "
The rotation of the Red Sox is already composed of Chris Sale, David Price, Rick Porcello and Eduardo Rodriguez. Therefore, locking up Eovaldi certainly makes Boston starting pitchers a threat to the hitters.
