They donated the clothes to The Doe Fund, an organization that provides paid work, housing, vocational training, continuing education, and comprehensive social services to underserved Americans with a history of addiction, homelessness and incarceration. , according to a “Jeopardy! Press release.

“On his last day on the set, Alex praised the virtues of everyone opening their hands and hearts to those in pain,” said Mike Richards, the game show’s executive producer. “Donating her wardrobe to those working to rebuild their lives is the perfect way to start honoring this latest request.”

Trebek’s son Matthew supported the Doe Fund and came up with the idea to donate the coins to the organization, according to the press release.

In all, the family donated four suits, 58 dress shirts, 300 ties, 25 polo shirts, 14 sweaters, nine sports coats, nine pairs of dress shoes, 15 belts, two parkas and three pairs of dress pants. According to the press release, Doe Fund participants will use elements of their reintegration program for job interviews.

“We are very grateful to Jeopardy! And the Trebek family’s commitment to raising the most vulnerable among us, ”said Harriet McDonald, President of The Doe Fund. “The men in our job training programs always need work clothes, so they can shine in their job interviews and work confidently once they’re hired. This gift alleviates the barrier of not having appropriate clothing.

Trebek died in November at the age of 80. It has hosted over 8,200 episodes of “Jeopardy!” over 38 seasons, the most by a single game show presenter, according to a Sony Pictures release.

Trebek left behind his three children and his wife Jean, whom he married in 1990.
