A familiar villain from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 in 2004 could make a surprise appearance in Marvel Studio’s upcoming Spider-Man 3.
Spider-Man 3 – Marvel Studio’s currently untitled Spider-Man sequel Spider-Man: Far From Home – is expected to include a significant inter-dimensional, multiverse storyline, likely from Doctor Strange’s second film as Benedict Cumberbatch’s mystical hero joined the cast of the Sony / Marvel collaboration. The inclusion of Strange, and his own upcoming multidimensional film, has led to speculation about the possibility of crossover appearances from former Spider-Men, including Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield. A new rumor appears to support this idea, following reports that none other than Spider-Man 2Alfred Molina was recently on the set of the suite.

According to The GWW, Molina would reprise his role as Doctor Otto Octavius, a villain he first portrayed in Sam Raimi’s 2004 film. Spider-Man 2. Sources note, however, that it is not confirmed whether Molina will represent the same Doc Ock from Spider-Man 2, or if he’ll deliver a new, never-before-seen version of the Spider-Man villain.
This rumor follows the announcement that Jamie Foxx has negotiated with Marvel Studios to reprise the character of Max Dillon / Electro, a supervillain who brought Sony’s 2014 film to life, The Incredible Spider-Man 2. Reports that Foxx will appear as Sony’s version of Electro rather than a new take on the character supports the idea of a multiverse being explored in Marvel Studio. Spider-Man 3.
Directed by Jon Watts, the currently untitled sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jamie Foxx and Benedict Cumberbatch. The film arrives in theaters on December 17, 2021.
